6 businessmen face summons for 'land grabs'

According to Thanadon Suwannarit, an advisor to Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Thamanat Prompow, the Office of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission ( PACC ) is scheduled to summon six businessmen who are suspected of illegally holding land plots for landless farmers.

As a government investigation into area invasion in Khao Yai National Park is advancing, Mr. Thanadon made the remarks as he brought officials who are experts on land submission laws to testify before the PACC as witnesses.

He claimed that because defendants have been found, the investigation has made significant progress. He stated that the PACC may soon awaken the entrepreneurs who are suspected of having improperly held the Sor Por Kor area plots for questioning.

A government investigation revealed that many producers are also breaking the laws governing the use of Sor Por Kor land close to the park’s boundaries, according to Mr. Thanadon before. These crimes include the unlawful excavation of ground for business purposes and the sale of plots to individuals and/or groups that are not able to hold them.

He claimed that the government and the Anti-Money Laundering Office are looking into ways to capture the qualities of those responsible for the Sor Por Kor plots ‘ unlawful use and/or move.

He made reference to two representatives from the Nakhon Ratchasima’s Pak Chong district’s Pak Chong district’s Agricultural Land Reform Office ( ALRO ), who are suspected of being involved in the illegal allocation of the Sor Por Kor land reform plots.

He stated that seven other leaders will soon be interrogated and that arrest warrants will soon be issued.

He claimed that a big corporation had occupied three Sera Por Kor plots and that the government had located them.

Additionally, Mr. Thanadon added that he will oversee a global assessment of the invasion of Sor Por Kor land in the coming weeks.
