5.5-magnitude earthquake strikes China’s Tibet

Tibet was struck by a magnitude 5. 5 earthquake early on May 12 in Beijing, according to the China Earthquake Administration ( CEA ).

At 5.11 a.m., the earthquake struck Shigatse, which was 10 kilometers deep.

Officials have dispatched emergency response teams, but no deaths have so far been reported, according to CEA.

In a 6.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Tibet’s Tingri state, about 240 kilometers from Shigatse, in January, more than 120 persons died.
