MELAKA: A total of 40 locations in Ayer Keroh and Bandar Melaka are expected to have 5G coverage by the end of September from the 133 locations targeted for the first stage of the 5G service network rollout within Melaka.
Condition Education and Technologies Committee chairman Datuk Rais Yasin stated the 5G network rollout by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOM) via Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) would also be expanded through the use of road fixtures such as road lights.
“Melaka has been identified as among the earliest states to have this 5G network and the identified areas involved areas with high population denseness, industrial and tourism focus areas and also higher education institutions.
“Thus, various clever applications such as AI Surveillance and IOT sensors to improve the security, transportation and so on is going to be integrated through the clever lamp post infrastructure for the 5G network, ” he told reporters here these days.
Rais said for that purpose, the state government had also set up a task power managed by the Melaka Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) to accelerate the approval process for the construction of telecommunication structures within the state. – Bernama
