SENTENCING
Foo’s attorneys Cory Wong and Josephus Tan of Invictus Law requested no more than 11 years in prison, while the trial requested 15 to 20 years in prison.
Both attorneys have worked together for more than four years on the event pro bono. Following the trial, Mr. Tan informed the media that Foo would hardly file an appeal.  ,  ,
Mr. Wong explained to the court how Foo had transitioned from one abusive marriage to another during his sentencing claims.
According to a statement from the Institute of Mental Health, Foo was incarcerated in an abusive marriage with Wong and was suffering from depression at the time of the crime.  ,
With that in mind, it is telling that ( Foo ) was herself a victim of all of this and had also experienced ( Wong’s ) suffering. We humbly ask the court to consider ( Foo’s ) plight in this context, but this does not, the defense lawyers said.  ,
Foo’s professionals also provided two letters, both describing her domestic abuse and venting regret over how Megan had” spilted over.”  ,
Justice Hoo, however, did not give these words any lessening pounds. Even if the claims of home abuse were genuine, Foo was held accountable, she said, even if they were true.
She agreed with the trial that Foo should not use her “deplorable actions” as justification for any crime against her.  ,
She was Megan’s caretaker, and she should be able to concentrate on her for safety because she was her family. Foo otherwise abused that confidence and brutally exploited Megan,” said Justice Hoo.  ,
Wong’s defense attorney Vinit Chhabra pleaded with the judge to sentence his client to between 20 and 22 times, with 11 stroke of the wood, while the prosecutors argued for a prison sentence of 28 to 30 years and 15 to 17 strokes of the wood.
The trial brought up how Wong had repeatedly harmed Megan to the point where one time her neck sprang into a broken.
According to Wong’s efforts to destroy evidence,” a full picture of Megan’s anguish, and the despair she faced in the process, is withheld from the judge,” said the trial.
” Despite this court, we are given a glance: Megan had several “blue-black” signs, bleeding on her up, and a large scar on her left cheek.  ,
More astonishingly, the broad weight loss that can be honestly determined from photographs speaks volumes about the child’s hunger and the length of time she spent starving the people she was dependent on.
Justice Hoo noted that in his plea, Justice Hoo argued that he was only trying to control Megan and that he was trying to minimize his criminality.
These assertions were undoubtedly without significance, the judge argued.  ,
Wong’s use of drugs, as the trial pointed out during the hearing, may actually be aggravating. There is also no justification for Wong’s steps being intended to discipline Megan.
Justice Hoo noted that the words she handed to the couple were severe after wrapping up her comment.
The court had, on behalf of society, implement severe punishment reflecting the disapproval of such do, she said in closing.  ,
Foo was given the opportunity to speak with friends in the museum, including her mother, after the judge handed the word.  ,
Foo and her family exchanged Mandarin words, and the younger lady thanked the older woman for her apologetics. The family instructed her daughter to take better care of herself and asked her to be a better person.
Foo’s mother, who was approached by reporters outside the courthouse, turned down the post because there was nothing more to say as the sentence was pronounced.
