Four people were injured, two critically, in separate fire incidents during New Year clock activities in Nakhon Ratchasima and Chon Buri’s Pattaya, while firework-related flames were reported in several other regions.
On Tuesday evening in the Wang Nam Khieo and Chalerm Prakiart regions of Nakhon Ratchasima, two men suffered serious injuries.
At the housing property in Wang Nam Khieo’s area, Somyos Butsadee, 35, sustained severe injury to five fingertips. Before taking him to Wang Nam Khieo Hospital, first assistance was provided for him by the rescue team.
In Chalerm Prakiat city, Natthawat Thangphudsa, 27, was seriously injured in his left side, with all hands having deep scars. He was taken to the Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital.
A group of foreigners dangerously lit lights that went off in Pattaya that caused injuries to a Foreign man and a Thai person during a New Year’s clock event there.
At 10.36pm, rescue personnel were called to the Bang Lamung area.
They found a Taiwanese man, identified only as Xiong, with injury to his body and legs. Thanna-orn Chaksarn, 42, sustained minor injury to her neck. Before being transported to a local hospital, both were initially treated.
Two lights boxes were left in the area, according to the rescue staff. When a group of international citizens lit lights some days despite being instructed not to do so, witnesses claimed the injured were drinking on the shore.
Suddenly, some lights went away, causing many travellers to flee in despair and injuring the man and woman.
Authorities in Chon Buri’s Bang Saen said they were looking into a fire that occurred at a beach restaurant that was reported at 1am. There were no accounts of injury.
When the blaze started, customers were partying, and it is primarily thought to have been caused by a fire, according to police.
In Nonthaburi’s Muang area, four wooden houses were destroyed in a blaze apparently caused by a falling fire.
Thosapol, 51, a provincial employee, said that he was trying to sleep when a smouldering fire landed on his property. The flames spread rapidly, engulfing his home and others outside.
Officers and criminal experts went to the scene yesterday, and they promised to look into CCTV footage to figure out what caused the accident and who was to blame.
