3 arrested for B8m fraud in science equipment purchases

A company staff and two adult employees from the Department of Medical Sciences of the Public Health Ministry were detained on Thursday on suspicion of falsifying documents about the purchase of technology equipment, which resulted in damages of about 8 million baht.

The Anti-Corruption Police Division (ACPD ) and representatives from the Public Sector Anti- Corruption Commission ( NACC), the National Anti Money Laundering Office ( Amlo ), and other organizations all participated in the arrests, which were carried out by a combined team of police officers.

In Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, and Bangkok, the crew searched five goals.

With a Criminal Court warrant for Corruption and Misconduct Cases Region 1, the authorities detained 54-year-old products and provide national Janya Sapthorani and her daughter 32 years old operational official Rattanaporn Hongthong at the Department of Medical Sciences office in the Muang district of Nonthaburi.

Anon Hongthong, 32, a panel member of the company, was detained after the officials searched the company of N Y Plus Company in the Bang Bua Thong city of Nonthaburi around the same time. He is the son-in-law of Ms. Janya.

The three were accused of fabricating paperwork involving the purchase of scientific products that were neither carried out nor delivered to the Department of Medical Sciences ‘ supply and equipment company, resulting in losses of about 8 million baht in the 2023 fiscal year.

The ACPD was given custody of them so they could proceed legally.
