Stanley previously mentioned making the decision to compete in this year’s competition, saying,” I think it’s really great that Miss Universe Singapore has opened up to encompass and take into consideration more people who are in my place.

Despite the hardships I have encountered, I know that my decisions and actions so far in life are ones that I may be proud of because I have always been a warrior and very determined. I get another chance to show my child what a powerful woman can get by doing this. More important, I want to present her that anything is possible.”
