Between December 27 and December 31, traffic accidents involving the New Year’s Day in Thailand claimed 215 livelihoods and inflicted 1,354 injuries.
In the past five days, Somsak Thepsutin, the minister of public health, reported the deaths as a result of 1, 398 traffic injuries.
According to the secretary, the highest death burden of 10 was recorded in both Bangkok and Nonthaburi. The most injuries, 44, occurred in Ayutthaya, and the highest amount of wounded people, 43, was reported in Phuket.
Eleven out of 77 counties global were completely of traffic fatalities.
On New Year’s Eve alone, there were 262 traffic fatalities in which 36 people were killed and 245 people injured.
Speeding was the most common cause of the accidents ( resulting in 42.75 % of cases ), followed by drink driving ( 24.43 % ) and cutting in ( 21.37 % ).
People began returning to Bangkok and other provinces of monetary value on Tuesday night after the long trip reported traffic congestion on major and minor highways yesterday.
According to Mr. Somsak, individuals who celebrated the countdown to the new year may not have had enough sleeping, which may cause drowsiness and road accidents.
In order to promote public safety, he has mandated that the Road Accident Prevention and Reduction Centre work with municipal authorities and administrative offices to establish checkpoints and support factors along roads.
On main and secondary highways, customers administration has also been improved to ease congestion.
According to Mr. Somsak, relevant authorities must take stringent measures to enforce the law against drivers who drive while driving, eating, and driving without a hat or chair belt.
Companies were also given instructions to keep the rules strict, maintain neatness, safety, and readiness of public bus drivers.
The Ministry of Public Health has also collaborated with the National Institute of Emergency Medicine ( NIEM) and other organizations to ensure that emergency medical services are available on land, water, and air during the New Year’s Day.
Additionally, workforce and medical equipment have been created to support administrative functions.
