More than 200 abandoned cars have been taken off of Bangkok roads by City Hall because no proprietors have shown up to claim them.
Between 2019 and 2023, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration ( BMA ) claims to have dealt with a total of 1, 399 abandoned cars. As of January 2, 1, 164 wreckage had been demolished by their masters, and district office workers had removed 203 of them. According to Bangkok lieutenant governor Chakkraphan Phiewngam, 32 vehicles were pending treatment.
Owners of 33 abandoned cars have been fined by the BMA totaling 60,500 rmb, and 36 of those cars have so far been auctioned off for 268, 000 Baht.
On Wednesday, Mr. Chakkraphan oversaw the removal of abandoned, dilapidated cars on Sukhothai Soi 1 in the Dusit neighborhood.
He stated that the city leadership would issue notices to owners of abandoned vehicles instructing them to replace them within a predetermined amount of time.
District practices may reduce users ‘ vehicles and store them at a garbage disposal facility for six months if they did not remove them. Afterward, he said, the cars may be put up for auction.
If they come across abandoned car wrecks on streets or in public places, he urged people to contact the BMA using the Traffy Fondue software.
According to the state’s cleanliness and orderliness laws, owners of vehicles left on roads or in open areas may be fined up to 5,000 baht.
