KUCHING: According to reports, two members of the Royal Malay Regiment, a Sarawak-based Royal Malay Regiment, were behind the demise of a squadmate.

The two, who were both privates, were detained on Tuesday at an army base in Miri to assist with investigations into the death of 21-year-old Muhammad Muqriz Aseri, according to Malaysia’s news outlet Berita Harian on Wednesday ( Mar 26 ).

ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the police’s director of Miri city, reported that the two, who are 22 and 24 years old, have been detained for seven days until April 2.

According to Berita Harian, he was quoted as saying,” The case is currently being investigated by the police pursuant to Section 320 of the Penal Code because they are suspected of death.”

Muqriz, who currently holds the position of a secret, officially passed away early on Monday night after being subjected to activities by the two, whose names were unknown.

According to the Asian regular Utusan Malaysia, the victim died from blunt force trauma, and the victim died after receiving a powerful blow to the neck, which damaged the heart.

The two, who were described as his elders, reportedly subjected Muqriz to a” army rest” for two hours as well as push-ups before waking him up for a pre-dawn dinner at 2.15am according to regional advertising.

Muqriz, who was in pain, finally stood up and went into unconscious state. A different employee first learned about the event and sent Muqriz to Miri Hospital where he was later declared dead.
