2 injured in Hat Yai factory fire

SONGKHLA: A fire broke out at a factory making plastic products in Hat Yai district on Sunday. Two workers were reportedly injured.

The fire started at about noon inside the Five Stars Plactic Company factory on Kanchanawanich road in the Ban Phru Municipality.

The entire factory was engulfed by flames, sending plumes of thick, black smoke into the sky.

The factory had about 100 workers but most of them were outside during their lunch break when the fire broke out. Initial reports said two were injured by the fire.

About 10 fire engines from the Ban Phru Municipality and other local administrations in Hat Yai and Na Mom districts were dispatched to douse the flames.

The cause of the fire and the amount of damage were not yet known.
