The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) reported that four adults and 15 children were taken to the hospital after a fire broke out in a building along River Valley Road on Tuesday ( Apr 8 ).
Around 9.45 am, SCDF said it received a notification about the hearth at 278 River Valley Road. When SCDF arrived, it was discovered that a three-storey shophouse had a second and third surfaces burning.
” Many people were positioned on a balcony outside the third-floor system. Building employees and members of the public reached those who were stranded and saved a number of them, according to a Facebook post from SCDF.
While firefighters moved the fire to the second and third floors, recovery ladders and a combined system staircase were immediately deployed to help the rest of the stranded victims on the balcony.
Three liquid jets used to extinguish the fire within 30 days.
About 80 people in the shophouse and local areas were reportedly evacuated by the authorities and SCDF officers, and 19 others were taken to hospitals, according to SCDF.
The fire’s source is being looked into.
” We would like to congratulate the members of the public who bravely and quickly assisted in the recovery of the stranded people,” said SCDF.
