2nd, the PWM for cleaning, security and landscape sectors – which originally applied only to outsourced employees – will be extended to cover those working in-house as well.   This benefit about 19, 000 full-time lower-wage workers, mentioned MOM.

In total, 197, 000 full-time lower-wage employees will benefit from the brand new progressive wage goes. This includes the new LQS requirement, and the introduction of the PWM intended for retail workers, as well as for in-house cleaners, security officers and panorama workers.

MOTHER said that employers have to assess if their employees are performing work role covered by the PWM by talking about the PWM work descriptions on MOM’s website. Employers should then  update and submit their workers’ PWM job roles, if any, via MOM’s Occupational Work Dataset portal.

From September 2022 to February 2023, tripartite  partners will certainly focus on educating employers on the various modern wage requirements, with employers given time to adjust and conform, said MOM.

To support employers because they adjust to the modern wage requirements, the federal government is co-funding the wage increases provided to lower-wage workers with the Progressive Wage Credit Scheme (PWCS), mentioned MOM.

The PWCS will run for 5 years from 2022 to 2026.

Employers are usually urged to use this era of support  in the Government to speed up firm-level productivity improvements, so that the wage improves remain sustainable just for employers in the long run, mentioned MOM.
