14 injured, including foreigners, as bus crashes into pole

At least 14 tourists were injured when their vehicle struck a common water hose and a power mast in Phetchaburi state earlier Friday.

The Sawang Sanphet Rescue System reported the incident occurred on the Bangkok-bound Phetkasem Road at 4am, when a long-distance vehicle from Ranong state lost power and crashed in Khao Yoi area. &nbsp,

All injured people, including some foreigners, were taken to Khao Yoi Hospital.

Pol Lt Gen Naiyawat Phadermchit, chief of Provincial Police Region 7, said the provincial vehicle had 36 passengers on board, including 12 Burmese people. The car had departed from Ranong the preceding night for the money, according to Siam Focus Time, an online media outlet. &nbsp,

Twelve of the immigrants were from Germany, France and the United States, he added.

Driver Rakchat Phukaew admitted to falling asleep at the wheel, resulting in the loss of power over the vehicle, Manager Online reported.
