A total of 135 Myanmar immigrants, including four children, have been arrested for reportedly entering the country illegally in two separate instances in Kanchanaburi state.
A human received an alert on Friday afternoon about a cautious pickup truck traveling along Highway 323, near the border between Thong Pha Phum and Sai Yok districts, along with analytical director Pol Col Mana Samrarnwong and deputy chief of the municipal officers, Pol Col Pattarachai Korsanan.
The staff was then led by two officers, according to the authorities, to establish checkpoints along the bridge to catch the pickup truck.
Around 6.30pm, according to police, the officers were able to quit the vehicle.
While searching the vehicle, the soldiers found 58 Myanmar workers, including 10 people, hidden in the rear, authorities said.
The vehicle, identified as Kajorn Prakobtham, was arrested and sent to Sai Yok authorities station for questioning, along with the 58 workers. Finally, he was accused of bringing in foreigners without authorization.
In another scenario, Col Suradech Mekanuwong, deputy commanding general of the 9th Infantry Division’s Ladya defense task force, said he was informed yesterday at 2.30am that some alien workers were hiding in a forest in Thong Pha Phum’s tambon Tha Khanun.
He worked with local officals to search the area and found 77 Myanmar aliens, including four children, hiding in the jungle, he said.
The aliens told a translator that they were escaping the ongoing conflict in their nation, he said.
They departed from Sangkhla Buri district’s tambon Nong Lu in Kanchanaburi by using a natural border path to avoid police checkpoints.
They claimed they were waiting for another middleman to take them to their workplaces in other provinces, including Bangkok, and that they were traveling with a middleman to get to the village.
He said they each planned to pay the middlemen up to 20, 000 baht after reaching their destinations. Both groups in Myanmar were accused of allowing entry into the country and will be deported back to their home countries.
