
After four wheelchairs belonging to the Elections Department of Singapore ( ELD ) were damaged at two polling stations in separate cases, the police are looking into 13 people, ages 13 to 20.  ,
The chairs were present at the poll locations in Boon Lay and Sengkang.
Around 10.55 p.m. on Monday ( Apr 28 ), the police received a call for assistance from Block 51A Sengkang West Avenue, where a polling station had been set up.  ,
According to a police report released on Thursday, three scooters belonging to ELD were damaged.
Five people reportedly used the chairs to civilization one another, according to preliminary investigations. One of them even threw one of the chairs into the surroundings.
Around 1 a.m., the police received a second call for assistance from Block 176B Boon Lay Drive, where a protected basketball court had been blocked and designated as a poll location.
Eight persons who might be involved have been identified by the police as having damaged one scooter that was owned by ELD.  ,
Anyone found guilty of vandalism could receive a fine of up to S$ 2, 000 ( US$ 1, 500 ) or a three-year prison sentence. Additionally, violators are subject to three to eight wood stroke.  ,
The police, they said,” will never tolerate and may get firm and timely action against those who violate the law, cause law and order problems, vandalise or damage common property, especially during this delicate period of elections.”
