According to the Bangkok Post, 12 of the 13 detained were headed for Singapore, and the other was headed for Hong Kong. The United Kingdom, Germany, and Singapore were among their last sites planned.
According to the news channel, some of the travellers were hired to transport the cannabis abroad, citing Thai authorities. If they succeeded, they were promised repayment or debt settlement.
The cannabis was found in 22 bags at Samui Airport, and it was estimated to have been sold for roughly 75 million baht ( US$ 2.2 million ) in total.
