More than 1.3 tonnes of dried cannabis flowers bound for the United Kingdom have been seized by customs at Laem Chabang Port.
According to Direk Khacharak, chairman of the Laem Chabang Port Customs Office, officials at the harbor inspected two suspicious supplies on September 11 and 16 based on information from international companies.
According to their trade papers, the items were to be shipped to the United Kingdom. The second sale, which was reported to contain three crates of plastic tiles for fitness centers, and the second pallet, which was said to contain four pallets of cloth gloves, was declared to be three.
But, customs officials discovered that the first shipment contained 153.3 kilogrammes of 5 million baht of cannabis buds, while the next shipment contained 1.3 tonnes of buds for 20 million baht.
According to Mr. Direk, these hemp products may cost the UK the equivalent of 100 million baht.
The individuals responsible for the shipments would face charges of fabricating information to defuse limitations, which is prohibited by Sections 202, 244, and 252 of the Customs Act BE 2560 ( 2017 ).
