On Thursday ( Apr 10 ), Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of working systematically in China to recruit soldiers for its war in Ukraine. Days later, Ukrainian forces announced that they had captured two Chinese men fighting for Moscow.
After Zelenskyy claimed that Russian intelligence had revealed at least 155 Taiwanese people were fighting for Russia, China had warned Ukraine on Thursday to refrain from making “irresponsible” notes.
It is obvious that these are not isolated situations, but more comprehensive Russian efforts, in particular those that occur on the country and fall under the Chinese’s laws, to attract citizens of that nation for the war, Zelenskyy wrote on X, referring to the men who were taken.
He posted video of an investigation with one of them that Reuters may not freely show.
” Everything must be done to ensure that Russia doesn’t have such and comparable options to improve and grow the war,” Zelenskiy continued.
Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Kremlin, refuted Zelenskyy’s assertion and described Beijing as taking” a healthy place.”
China has attempted to place itself as an artist in efforts to put an end to the war, but has declared a “no-limits” collaboration with Russia.
It hasn’t been known to directly contribute to Russia’s full-scale war of Ukraine in 2022, but it has made it a secret.
