Xi says China to strengthen ties with neighbours, in first public speech amid US trade war escalation

According to the Xinhua statement, combined efforts should be made to protect regional stability by promoting security and law enforcement cooperation in order to address different risks and difficulties. China’s leadership also pledged to promote people-to-people exchanges.

Just weeks before his anticipated upcoming trips to Vietnam, Malaysia, and Cambodia, which are all significant neighbors for China, Xi addressed the meeting.

China is one of the countries with the most neighborly countries in the world, bordering 14 countries on land, a difference it shares with Russia, while facing eight different neighbors, including US friends Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines.

The disputed South China Sea, which has become a main source of tension in a political chess match between the Asiatic nation and the US, is a key component of the Indo-Pacific place, where China is located.

The statement read,” Our country has vast territory and much borders, which makes the surrounding region an essential foundation for achieving development and prosperity, a critical area for safeguarding regional security, the key element in coordinating entire diplomatic work, and the essential driver in building a community of a shared future for mankind,” according to the statement.
