On Saturday ( May 3 ), Vietnam said it had sent diplomatic notes to China and the Philippines to protest their actions in dispute over the South China Sea waters and urged them to respect their territorial claims.
According to Pham Thu Hang, a spokesperson for Vietnam’s international department, the statement follows China and the Philippines ‘ actions in Sandy Cay, which they regard as part of their country.
The Philippines sent a staff to the coastlines and found no one there despite the country’s state broadcaster CCTV reporting that its coast guard had landed on Sandy Cay as part of sea control activities as part of its independence.
Viet Nam requests that important parties value Vietnam’s sovereignty, uphold international law, and help to maintain peace and stability in the East Sea, Hang said in the statement, referring to the South China Sea as Vietnam’s name.
Vietnam has” cometened and sent diplomatic notes protesting relevant nations regarding activities that violate Vietnam’s sovereignty over Sandy Cay and related entities of the Truong Sa,” she said.
The Spratly Islands are known as the Asian brand Truong Sa.
During the weekends, Reuters contacted the Chinese and the Spanish embassy in Vietnam for comments.
