US says no response yet from China on foreign minister invite to Washington

On June 18, Blinken met Qin for the first time in five years as the major American envoy to China. Following” candid, meaningful, and creative” talks, according to the U.S. State Department, Blinken invited Qin to Washington to maintain discussions.

In Qin’s presence, Blinken met Wang, 69, who served as foreign secretary from 2013 to 2022, on the outside of a provincial gathering in Jakarta in July.

In a speech to Reuters on Thursday, China’s foreign ministry stated that it was” willing to maintain connections” with the United States in the event that Wang were to visit the country again, but it did not go into further detail.

Blinken noted that other users of the Biden administration, including Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Climate Envoy John Kerry, had even visited China after his visit, indicating that Washington anticipated Beijing would accept the invitation with open arms.

According to Blinken,” We completely anticipate Chinese rivals to visit the United States.” The United States and China both have a responsibility to properly handle this relationship, which begins with communication.
