Four people in the know-how said that the two militaries increased cooperation as the Chinese military threats grew as the two countries conducted shared drills in the Pacific in April that were actually non-existent.
In response to Chinese incursions almost everyday into Taiwan’s air defense identification zone and military exercises by Chinese forces close to the area, Washington and Taipei have recently expanded their military cooperation.
Due to China’s issue to any defense ties between Washington and Taipei, US-Taiwan military engagement, including excursions and training, is kept under wraps and is frequently not confirmed.
Taiwan, which China firmly rejects, is a politically guided nation.
The training, which were not publicised, took place last month in the Western Pacific, according to the options, who requested secrecy given the sensitivity of the problem.
One cause said “multiple military property” were involved. According to a second source, the drills were dubbed “unplanned ocean encounters” and did not officially arise, citing a tacit agreement between the parties that claimed the exercises were merely the result of accidental encounters.

The Pentagon declined to comment.
Since Washington publicly acknowledges Beijing but is required by law to give Taiwan the means of defense, making Taiwan Taiwan its most significant global supporter, Taiwan and the US do not have diplomatic relations.
