‘Unsafe’ action by China near American ship in Taiwan Strait: US

The US government reported on Saturday, June 3, that a Chinese Navy fleet approached an American warship transiting the Taiwan Strait in an” dangerous way.” & nbsp,

Following what the US military described as an” unnecessarily intense manoeuvre” by one of Beijing’s soldiers close to a Washington surveillance plane last year, this is the second close encounter between American and Chinese military goods in less than ten days.

During the Saturday transit, the Chinese ship” executed manoeuvres in an unsafe manner in the vicinity of Chung – Hoon ,” an American destroyer, according to a statement from the US Indo-Pacific Command( USINDOPACOM ).

On their port area, Beijing’s ship” overtook Chung-Hoon and crossed their spear at 150 feet.” To avoid a collision, Chung-Hoon kept his course and slowed to 10 ( knots ), according to the statement.

The US military added that the” US military fly, boats, and operates safely and properly wherever international law permits ,” adding that it” crossed Chung-Hoon’s bow a second time port to port at 2, 000 feet and remained off Chang – Hoons port bow ,” coming within 150 feet at the closest level.

The incident took place as the Chung-Hoon and a French warship were traveling through the Taiwan Strait on joint missions to cross the delicate waterway separating self-ruled Taiwan from China.

Although it claimed to have watched the passage, the Chinese government omitted any mention of a nearby experience.

According to Senior Colonel Shi Yi, a spokeswoman for China’s Eastern Theatre Command, the appropriate nations are purposefully causing problems in the Taiwan Strait, consciously inciting threats, and deliberately undermining local peace and stability.

The sea is usually traversed by US ships. The final US-Canada agreement was signed in September 2022.

China has recently increased military and political pressure on the area and claims Taiwan as its place, vowing to take it one morning, by force if necessary.

A Chinese aircraft that” flew straight in front of and within 400 legs of the nose” of an RC – 135 surveillance planes on May 26 over the South China Sea caused the Taiwan Strait send face, which the US government described as a dangerous maneuver.

A foreign ministry representative claimed that the” United States” frequent and long-term giving of boats and helicopters to closely monitor China really harms China’s national sovereignty and protection, and Beijing blamed the US for” incitement.”
