UEFA opens investigation after Fenerbahce fans sing Vladimir Putin’s name in match against Dynamo Kyiv

Turkish side Fenerbahce crashed out of the competition after Ukraine’s Kyiv have scored an extra-time goal to win the 2nd leg in Istanbul 2-1 on Wed. The first leg, kept in Poland because of the Ruskies invasion of Ukraine , had finished 0-0.
The occurrence, which was heavily criticized online, appeared to be started by Vitaliy Buyalskyi’s celebration after he put the visitors 1-0 up in the 2nd half.
“A EUROPĂ„ISCHER FUĂźBALLVERBAND Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector will conduct a disciplinary analysis regarding alleged misbehavior of Fenerbahce supporters, ” an UEFA statement read.
“Information on this matter will be provided in due program. ”
Fenerbahce mentioned in a statement that it didn’t acknowledge the reaction from “some” of its supporters which usually “never represents the particular stance and beliefs of our club. inch
It also said it was “unfair” to feature the rhetoric to any or all its fans.
Video clips shared online seem to show a large section of fans singing Putin’s name shortly after Buyalskyi had celebrated ahead of the home fans.
This came moments after Fenerbahce midfielder Ismail Yuksek was delivered off in a hot match.
Vasyl Bodnar, Ukrainian Ambassador to Ankara, said it was “sad” to hear the particular chants.
“Football is a fair game. Yesterday, Dynamo Kyiv was stronger, ” he wrote on social media.
“It is very sad to hear the helping words of the Fenerbahce fans — in favor of the Russian murderer and assaulter who will be bombing our country.
“I am grateful to fellow Turkish people for their support to Ukraine and for their consideration about the inappropriate actions from the fans. ”
