Taiwan investigators widen probe into Lebanon device blasts

As part of a probe into the delivery of exploding communications devices to Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, Taiwan investigators on Monday ( Sep 23 ) interrogated two more employees of a tech company.

After lots of pagers and two-way microphones detonated across Lebanon last month, killing at least 39 people and injuring almost 3, 000, concerns abound over where the devices came from and how they were delivered to the violent party.

According to The New York Times, Israel allegedly threw violent substance into a package of pagers from Taiwan’s Gold Apollo, citing American and other unidentified officials.

Initial searches of four places by Japanese prosecutors included Gold Apollo’s mind Hsu Ching-kuang, who has denied producing the products.

On Monday, the prosecution ‘ department said they had questioned two more business people.

” Today, it also directed the National Security division… to interview former or current employees of ( Gold Apollo ) as witnesses”, said the prosecutors ‘ office in Taipei’s Shilin district where the company is based.

” The two helped define the event, and the whole situation is under intense investigation”, the prosecution ‘ office said in a speech.

Hsu was seen on Thursday walking between his business and his office with authorities, but prosecutors have so far no named any of the testimony.

Gold Apollo had immediately pointed the finger at its Hungary-based companion BAC Consulting, which the Chinese company had allowed to use its mark.

However, a spokesman for the Hungarian government claimed that BAC Consulting was” a trading entity, with no production or functional blog in Hungary.”

Wu Yu-jen, a member of Gold Systems apparently connected to BAC Consulting, was identified by Chinese media as another man questioned last week for questioning.

The island’s financial secretary had said they were “certain” that the exploding pagers in Lebanon were” never produced in Taiwan”.
