Indonesia aims for gold in weightlifting at Paris Olympics

OTHER TEAM People

Nurul Akmal, who is the only person on the group, is from a remote Aceh village. Nurul, who placed second at the Tokyo Olympics, hopes that more people will be able to reflect Indonesia in the game and advance to the Olympics.

In Aceh, people are more associated with house matters. Because exercise is also viewed as a game largely for people, her parents first did not agree with her decision.

” Finally, I helped them to understand and now they are more happy, more friendly and I am able to raise their prestige”, she said.

Competing in what could be his bird music is 35-year-old Eko Yuli Irawan. He won the bronze medal in his first Olympian presence in 2008 at the age of 18 in his first year competing. &nbsp,

Eko is the athlete from Indonesia with the most trophies, having won four consecutive Olympic games and coming out on top in each of them.

I’m now a top, and it’s possible that this will determine my future. This is extremely important to me, but one thing is sure. Even if it’s the conclusion of my profession, at least I’ll provide a wonderful ending”, he said.

Malaysia unveils ‘fiercer-looking’ Olympic kit design after criticism, apology over ‘cheap-looking’ outfits

MANNEQUINS

The unveiling of the full line on Jun 23 – which included tracksuits, polo shirts and T-shirts – was also done with mannequins, prompting unhappiness among some sports fans.

Footage of the ceremony, held at an upmarket mall in Kuala Lumpur, showed the mannequins first wrapped in black cloth, with the fabric later removed following a countdown. Celebratory music and a smattering of applause could be heard.

A Facebook post about the event by the council attracted dozens of negative comments, with some calling the look “extremely shameful” and “hideous”.

An OCM official later admitted that it was a mistake to use mannequins to showcase the kits.

The council announced on Jun 28 that it would improve the widely-panned design to better bring out the tiger motif on the jackets. The council’s logo would also be revised to better reflect the Malaysian flag.

Regarding the gold collared T-shirt, Mohamad Norza said the same design and motif would be retained but with the OCM logo changed to the colours of the Malaysian national flag as “a mark of respect”.

“OCM believes that this new design symbolises the tiger spirit, which has become the identity of the Malaysian contingent since it was first introduced at the Southeast Asian Games in Manila in 2005.

“It is the hope of OCM … that the tiger spirit will inspire the national athletes to roar in the city of Paris,” he said.

Malaysian footballer Faisal Halim calls for justice after acid attack

A Malaysian football player who was seriously injured last month after being sprayed with acid in a hospital said on Thursday ( Jun 13 ) that he hopes his assailants will be brought to justice right away.

A clearly distressed and personal Ali Halim said at a press conference that he would concentrate on his treatment before making an attempt to play football again in his first public appearance since the May 5 harm.

He said,” I do n’t know if I can return to football or not; I just hope people will pray for my return to the soccer arena.” ” I want to remain living my life generally like other people, like other people”.

” I hope the culprits may be apprehended as soon as possible and put on trial,” he continued.

Ali, a wing on Malaysia’s nationwide group and state club Selangor FC, was attacked at a shopping mall, leaving him with third- degree burns on his face, arms, and torso, and affecting his speech and movement.

The 26-year-old had multiple surgeries to treat his body burns, spending three weeks in the hospital.

Even though the doc says it might take up to six months, my desire is to return to the ball in the next one to two weeks, said a sad Ali.

When doctors give me the natural light, he continued,” I’m willing to return to education.”

Although police have denied that the incidents were related, the affair was one of a number of attacks on Malay footballers that quarter.

Faisal, who goes by the name Mickey, declined to speculate on the factors behind the assault, but acknowledged it had left him and his household traumatised.

The public’s help and prayer have given me the strength to continue, he said,” I had rather lose thousands of dollars and quit playing football if I may be safe, if my family may be healthy.”

Ali did not explain why, but instead stated that he and his family are currently living in a” key shelter,” hoping that things will change once they are free.

Indonesia gears up to kick off FIFA U-17 World Cup amid efforts to reform troubled local football culture

But, observers noted that more focus needs to be placed on the local development of the sport.

According to Mr. Bernhard Schumm, a former manager of the Indian national team,” we are too preoccupied with winning the championship game without realizing that you cannot begin with the roof, you have to start from the foundations.”

” Long-term thinking, which is constantly occurring in every European football’s best countries frequently, is not occurring here.” What we need to begin now is what we want in ten centuries.

THE Native Field IS BOOSTING

Venues like Persija Jakarta, which competes in Liga 1, the major professional football league in Indonesia, are setting the standard for the development of young talent through football schools.

A sport school is what we have. According to the club’s president director Ambono Janurianto, the lowest( entry ) level is at a young age from primary school, then junior and senior high school and beyond.

We have the club after that. All of these are intended to help the players advance to the key team and develop into top players. This may help sport develop and change in Indonesia much more effectively.

Driverless ice cream trucks, 3D avatar booths: Hangzhou shows off tech innovations at Asian Games

However, the country is still reeling from a weakened economy, and record high youth unemployment.

Questions have arisen over the billions poured in to host the mega-event, with some businesses saying they are not yet seeing the benefits.

“(The Games have had) no impact on us at the moment. Everything is the same as usual. This is not the main competition venue, so the flow of people is not so much,” said Mr Han Yi, a shop assistant at a store located in the city centre, about 12km away from the Games venue.

GAMES BRING CHANGES TO THE CITY

Others, however, said the Games have brought significant changes to the city.

“It feels like the city now has a very new look. A lot has changed. For example, in terms of the subway transport system, and the way people have become more caring,” one Hangzhou resident told CNA.

“The world has given us the opportunity to host the Asian Games, we must cherish it and be responsible Hangzhou residents. We should be civilised and polite, be friendly and help others,” said a fellow local.

The Games are estimated to draw more than 20,000 visitors to Hangzhou, sparking hopes that they will inject a much-needed boost to the Chinese economy.

“For Hangzhou to host the Asian Games, it proves that our country’s comprehensive national strength is far more than that of many countries, and it is still gradually developing. So in this case, we spend the money to hold the competition, and it is an honour for us to do so,” another resident said.
