Thailand deports 10 to China linked to actor Wang Xing cyber-fraud case

Bangkok: According to Thai police, the country has deported 10 Chinese nationals who are connected to the well-known alleged abduction of an actor who was rescued from a Myanmar cyber-fraud center, on Saturday ( 15 ).

Wang Xing, known as Xing Xing, had flown to Thailand after believing he landed a part on a Thai video output.

Before being found safe in Myanmar, he was reported missing near a Thai border city.

Fraud factories have sprung up in Myanmar’s territories and are run by foreigners who are frequently trafficked and forced to work, extorting their fellow citizens in an industry experts claim is worth billions of dollars.

According to a police statement released on Friday, the suspects were members of a group operating in Myawaddy, Myanmar, and were reportedly involved in defrauding Taiwanese people, including Wang.

” The group had been deported back ( to China ) yesterday early evening”, a police official told AFP on Saturday.

They were escorted by Thai immigration authorities as they left Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport.

The 10 were deported” for Chinese police to indict them”, Thai authorities said on Friday.

After professional Wang was rescued from a scam center in Myanmar in January, concerns about cyber-fraud businesses grew even more.

Wang claimed that he was lured to Thailand with the promise of an exam before being taken away and smuggled across the borders.

Following his recovery, the crew fled Myanmar to travel to Cambodia before being arrested in Thailand, Thatchai Pitaneelaboot, a mature police official leading work against human smuggling, said in Friday’s speech.

The 10 suspects” took part in various roles in the scam”, he said, including managers, security guards and call centre operators who tricked victims.

In order to combat call center scams, Thai police pledged to increase asset investigation and work with the country’s anti-money laundering agency.
