South Korean ruling party to oppose Yoon’s impeachment

A full session, which erupted shortly after midnight on Thursday, reported the senate motion against Yoon, which set the precedent for a vote in the 24 to 72 hours that followed.

To get the required 200 seats, opposition parties need a two-thirds bulk to pass the bill, and they also need support from about eight Yoon’s own party. The Constitutional Court of South Korea will finally decide whether to support the movement if it is approved, which may take up to 180 time.

If Yoon’s power was revoked by the bill’s passage in parliament, Han Duck-soo may take the place of Yoon as president.

A fresh election had been held in 60 days if the disgruntled senator resigned or was removed from office.
