MOSCOW:  , The head of Russia’s Security Council Sergei Shoigu met North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Friday ( Sep 13 ), Moscow said, weeks after the Kremlin signed a defence pact with Pyongyang.
The visit comes as Moscow searches for weapons to maintain its more than 30-month unpleasant in Ukraine and as the West accuses Pyongyang of giving Moscow weapons.
In June, President Vladimir Putin traveled to North Korea and signed a pact for joint defense with the secluded nation.
Russia’s security committee stated on its website that the sessions in Pyongyang took place in a truly trusting and welcoming atmosphere in accordance with the agreements reached by the leaders of the two nations during President Vladimir Putin’s state visit.
It said Shoigu’s conference with Kim did “make an important factor to the deployment” of the military pact.
Shoigu served as Russia’s military minister until May.
The Russia-North Korea agreement has been criticized by European nations and South Korea, and Ukraine has claimed to have discovered North Korean shell on the field.
Russia and North Korea are among the world’s most tightly regulated nations.
Moscow has historically relations with Pyongyang since the Soviet Union helped to discovered North Korea, but relations have deteriorated since Moscow launched its 2022 Ukrainian rude, which broke ties with the West.
