Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, praised North Korea on Tuesday ( Jun 18 ) for “firmly supporting” Moscow’s war in Ukraine ahead of his trip to Pyongyang in an effort to bolster ties between the nuclear-armed allies.

Putin stated in an article published by the standard Asian Central News Agency,” We sincerely understand that the DPRK supports the special military operations of Russia being conducted in Ukraine,” using the abbreviation for North Korea’s established name.

The two countries are” then actively developing the numerous- allied partnership”, Putin wrote, pointing to, for example, the fact that Moscow and Kim Jong Un’s regime have been “maintaining the typical line and stand at the UN”.

Putin will make his second trip to the remote North, which is currently facing repeated rounds of UN sanctions for Kim’s banned arms programs, on Tuesday.

Kim has also increased weapons assessment, with some reports of cruise missile launches this time cited by analysts as potential weapons purchases from Russia.

A Pentagon record from last month revealed that Russia was deploying North Korean nuclear missiles in Ukraine, citing particles analysis.
