Philippines ‘not looking’ to extradite pastor Apollo Quiboloy to US

After the arrest of the suspect, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos stated on Monday ( Sep 9 ) that the country is not currently looking to extradite a Filipino pastor wanted for child sex trafficking in the country.

Apollo Quiboloy, a self-proclaimed” Appointed Son of God” and supporter of former president Rodrigo Duterte, surrendered in the southwestern area of Davao on Sunday amid a huge two-week officers search of his cult’s sprawling element.

The US charged the priest of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ in 2021 with sexual prostitution of 12- to 25-year-old girls and women who were reportedly required to have sex with him.

” For the time, we are not looking at abduction. We are focusing on the circumstances filed in the Philippines”, Marcos told investigators on the outside of a Manila event.

According to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI ), it is unknown if the US has formally requested Quiboloy’s extradition. He was at least 74 years old.

Quiboloy, whose religion claims millions of followers, is facing charges in Manila of baby abuse, physical abuse and human trafficking.

Marcos also expressed his gratitude to the police for detaining the priest.

” We will illustrate once again to the universe that our administrative system in the Philippines is engaged, is attractive, and is working well”, the president said.

Quiboloy is even wanted by US authorities for a plan that used fraudulent visas to bring church members to the US.

According to the FBI, they were therefore forced to demand donations for a fictitious generosity, where they raised money that was then used to pay for church operations and the opulent lifestyle of its leaders.
