MUMBAI: Nvidia’s leather-jacket-clad CEO Jensen Huang got a rock star welcome at the company’s AI summit in India on Thursday ( Oct 24 ), with passes sold out and tech enthusiasts spending thousands of rupees to travel to the event.
The reception Huang received in India’s commercial investment Mumbai was suggestive of the” Jensanity” seen in other parts of the world, particularly Taiwan, as his reputation climbs with Nvidia’s soaring profits and multi-trillion money market pricing.
Due to the crowd, which one Nvidia employee described as “easily a dozen thousand,” the US company’s announcement to provide Reliance Industries and other American companies with its Artificial cards had to be delayed by more than half an hour.
” This was Coldplay, but for tech bros. The British rock band Yuvraj Mehta, a robotics engineer for an AI startup that is a part of the Nvidia incubation program, said,” The passes were all sold out .”
Two professionals, who declined to be identified, claimed to have traveled to Mumbai and Gurgaon, in the northeastern state of Haryana, for more than 40 000 pounds ( US$ 476 ) in full.
Big Tech CEOs enjoy a sizable following in India, where engineering degrees from prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology ( IIT ) are viewed as a path to prosperity.
However, some guests claimed that Huang, who established Nvidia as the main supplier of the processors needed for relational AI, stands out even among them.
” He’s a hero”. ” He’s a warrior in the academic and student areas, and the AI habitat community”, said Akash Bansal, founder of technology startup Orangewood Labs.
