North Korean state media slams France for ‘gunboat diplomacy’

SEOUL: On Friday, October 6, North Korean state media criticized France for using” obsolete gunboat diplomacy” to deploy a police aircraft in waters close to the island.

The critique comes after Japan’s foreign ministry declared earlier this week that France would monitor illegal marine activities, such as ship-to-ship payments by Northern Korean-flagged ships using plane from Futenma Air Base in Okinawa, Japan.

According to Ryu Kyong-chol, a scientist at North’s Korea-European Association, the action is” obsolete gunboat diplomacy,” as stated by state media.

Ryu even urged France to put an end to” dangerous behavior” that endanger regional peace.

On Monday, the foreign ministry of Japan announced that this is the third time for events have occurred since 2019.

A shared air practice between North and South Korea was criticized by North Korean state media earlier this year as a” military incitement.”

According to KCNA, which carried Ryu’s speech,” France, hit by major problems caused by social section, is better off focusing on problems at home.”
