SEOUL: North Korea has denounced a declaration at a recent NATO summit that condemned Pyongyang’s weapons exports to Russia, calling the document “illegal”, state media said Saturday ( Jul 13 ).
In a joint declaration this year, NATO leaders condemned North Korea for “fuelling Russia’s battle of anger against Ukraine”, by “providing direct military help” to Moscow.
NATO frontrunners also voiced “profound problem” over China’s professional assistance to Russia.
Kim Jong Un, the leader of Pyongyang, and Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, have repeatedly refuted claims that it is providing weapons to Moscow, but they signed an agreement in June that pledged to provide each other with military support if they were attacked.
Pyongyang’s Asian Central News Agency reported Saturday that the foreign government “most clearly denounces and rejects” the NATO charter.
Citing a ministry official, the agency said the charter “incites new Cold War and military fight on a global size”, and requires” a new power and function of counteraction”.
