Mountainous Nepal’s sad history of air crashes

A small plane carrying 19 passengers exploded in flames on takeoff in mountainous Nepal on Wednesday ( July 24 ) during the capital’s historic cyclone.

Before Wednesday’s fall, almost 360 people had been killed in the country in 19 weather wrecks since 2000.

Details of aircraft and aircraft crashes in the Himalayan nation this century include those involving tiny airports in distant hills and mountains that are blocked from roads and covered in clouds.
