Japan’s top currency diplomat urges global cooperation to fight tariff woes

The top currency diplomat of Japan announced on Wednesday ( Apr 9 ) that it would work with the Group of Seven advanced economies and the International Monetary Fund to stop a market rout caused by US tariffs.

After a trilateral meeting of executives from Japan’s Ministry of Finance, the Financial Services Agency, and the Bank of Japan ( BOJ), Atsushi Mimura stated to reporters that” cooperation must be internationally to prevent market instability.”

We’ve been having conversations desperately through international and bilateral programs, including G7, Asian nations, and international organizations like the IMF, he declared.

Mimura claimed that the government had been “highly alarmed” by speculative-driven foreign change movements, noting that the market has recently been dangerous.

The multilateral gathering is usually held during times of market turbulence, in part as a show of support for the authorities. When shares fell all over the world last year, a similar meeting was held in August of last year.
