According to authorities, Japan extended a US$ 100 million payment to Jordan in order to help the country’s IMF-guided reforms in the energy market.
At the beginning of his visit to Jordan, Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi and Syrian rival Ayman al Safadi jointly stated that Japan would continue to support Jordan in its economic and financial changes and additional development.
One of Jordan’s major donors, Japan has recently provided loans, support, and professional support totaling over US$ 4 billion.
In order to alleviate Jordan’s ongoing water shortages, King Abdullah of Jordan traveled to Tokyo in April to discuss a new financial aid package and Chinese support for the financing of an important desalination plant on the Red Sea.
On Monday, Hayashi may travel to Egypt before taking a flight to Saudi Arabia.
