Israeli hostage families make Passover plea for return of loved ones

Easter, a week-long event that celebrates freedom, will be celebrated by friends of Jewish hostages held in Gaza with a new appeal to the government to make a deal to bring their missing loved ones back.

Passover, starting on Monday ( Apr 22 ) evening, is traditionally observed with a Seder, a holiday feast when families gather and celebrate the biblical account of the Israelites ‘ freedom from Egyptian slavery.

Some Israeli families are expected to leave vacant seats at the table this year to signify those killed or taken prisoner in the Hamas assaults from October 7 last season.

Hersh, the 23-year-old son of Rachel Goldberg-Polin, was taken to Gaza after his shoulder was blown off on October 7 when Hamas soldiers attacked the Supernova music festival in southern Israel. She urged the government to find a way to bring the hostages back this year’s Passover, which she predicted would be more meaningful than ever.

” All of the metaphorical things we do at the Seder may take on a much more deep and serious indicating this time,” Goldberg-Polin, a multi resident of Israel and the United States, told reporters.

She would be attending a Seder with friends and family, but they have stated that if they are unable to do it or that” we just ca n’t do it, and we need to cry, then we will cry” if they have been clear.

Hamas soldiers killed some 1,200 citizens and abducted another 253, on Oct 7, according to Israeli counts, triggering the conflict in Gaza in which more than 34,000 Palestinians have been killed, according to Gaza wellness government.
