Israel says more aid is entering Gaza, but figures disputed

Red Crescent leaders in Egypt, who reported more than 350 cars having crossed into Gaza on Monday and 258 on Sunday, have also noticed an increase in support flows into Gaza in recent days. That was significantly more than the figure they claimed was in recent days, which was typically less than 200.

But, UNRWA, the major United Nations agency in Gaza, said 223 cars had entered on Monday, fewer than half the 500 vehicles it says are required monthly.

UNRWA stated in its normal position statement on Tuesday that” there has been no significant shift in the amount of humanitarian supplies entering Gaza or improved entry to the north.”

Before the fight, when the colony was able to make much of its food through agriculture and angling, both of which have almost completely stopped, about 500 trucks with aid and other industrial goods entered Gaza every day.

Because Gaza’s whole population is now dependent on pamphlets, which is unsustainable, UNRWA communications director Juliette Touma said both philanthropic and corporate supplies were required.

OCHA spokesman Laerke claimed that Israel commonly counted the semi-filled trucks going through a screening process as opposed to repacked, complete trucks for delivery inside Gaza.
