India’s Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan stabbed by intruder at Mumbai home

Saif Ali Khan, 54, a star of Bollywood in India, is receiving treatment for six stabbing wounds after a fight early on Thursday ( Jan. 16 ) with an intruder at his home in Mumbai, according to media reports.

Khan lives in an apartment in the city’s eastern district of Bandra, home to many in the movie business, along with his wife Kareena Kapoor, who is also an artist, and their two babies, Jeh and Taimur.

He was taken to a local hospital at around 3.30am on Thursday with six wounds, two deeper than the others, the Hindustan Times newspaper said, citing Niraj Uttamani, the patient’s chief operating officer.

The official quoted as saying,” We will be able to tell the extent of the damage only after surgery,” adding that “one of the injuries is closer to his spine.”

According to media reports, the assailant fled after the occurrence and an inspection had been launched, with team searching for him.

Khan is one of the country’s most successful stars, having appeared in more than 70 films and television shows, some of which were also produced by him. He is the son of bowler and past India captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and performer Sharmila Tagore.
