India Navy rescues bulk carrier crew after Arabian Sea hijack attempt

NEW DELHI: After attempting to hijack a merchant ship in the Arabian Sea on Friday ( Jan ), the Indian Navy said it had not discovered any pirates on board.

Less than a moment after receiving word that the MV Lila Norfolk large aircraft had been hijacked about 460 coastal yards off Somalia, an Indian Navy ship stopped the Liberian-flagged ship.

According to a report from the UK Maritime Trade Operations ( UKMTO ) agency, which stated that the ship’s crew had gathered in the citadel, about five to six armed people boarded the vessel on Thursday.

All 21 of the ship’s staff members, including 15 Indians, were reportedly evacuated, according to the army.

On December 6, the ship carrying iron ore departed the Acu harbor in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, according to a declaration from the worker Anglo-American.

Without specifying how much iron ore the fleet was carrying, it stated that the whole crew was safe and that it was on its way to its destination, which was expected to arrive on January 12.

According to American sea security company Ambrey, the ship was headed for Bahrain’s Khalifa bin Salman.

The Indian Navy issued a violent caution, and the pirates ‘ attempt to hijack was likely abandoned.
