Following an allegation of inappropriate conduct during a social gathering outside of work hours, Honda Motor announced on Monday ( Apr 7 ) that it had accepted the resignation of Executive Vice President Shinji Aoyama.
In light of the seriousness of the situation, Honda did not provide more details about Aoyama’s behavior, but it was revealed that CEO Toshihiro Mibe may receive a 20 % pay cut for two weeks.
After an audit committee conducted an investigation into the incident, created a punitive action plan, and sought views from inside professionals, Honda’s table was scheduled to decide on the administrative actions.
The committee has determined it is ideal for Aoyama to step down from his position after Aoyama submitted his resignation on Monday, according to the business.
Aoyama was unavailable for comment on Reuters.
It is unfortunate that a person who is expected to lead the organization in terms of human rights and follow the appropriate laws and regulations has been named as the subject of an argument of conduct in violation of these principles, Honda said in a statement.
Aoyama joined Honda in 1986 and has held a number of mature roles, including those of Chief Operating Officer and Head of Car Operations.
Toyota Motor’s second-largest automaker in Japan, Honda, announced the new administration architecture in response to this issue in the near future.
