Dominant Chinese divers vie for golden sweep in Paris

In Paris, China may aim to become the first nation to win all the trophies at a Summer Games since the United States in 1952, where it won seven out of the eight medals won in swimming.

There was some cheer for their competitors in Qatar earlier this year when four medals went to other countries, whereas Chinese players also dominated the swimming events at the first two earth championships after the Tokyo Olympics.

China sent a staff to Qatar that has both experience and emerging skills, but it will return to full strength when the Paris Aquatics Centre’s July 27 and August 10 Olympic gold medals are in doubt.

Quan Hongchan, who won Tokyo platinum at the age of 14, became an instant hit in China and is now the defending champion.

Teammate Chen Yuxi, who won the gold medal in the event of a storm three years ago, poses the greatest threat to her attempt to keep the children’s 10m system title.

The duo have been nicknamed “double insurance” by China and are reportedly anticipating winning the synchronized 10m platform title up before competing for personal gold.

” It does n’t matter which of us gets the gold”, Quan told local media in May. ” As long as it is China’s, it’s okay”.

The situation is similar to that of the women’s 3m foundation, where Chen Yiwen, the world’s number one, has won every name this year, with the exception of Chang Yani’s gold-snatching teammate in Doha.

The pair, who are best pals and are both first-time Olympians, have won the 3m synchronized occurrence in most international competitions over the past few years.

Chang, however, is recovering from a neck injury sustained in March, which she feels may affect her performance and the couple’s chances of winning China’s second silver in Paris.

” I am not a gifted performer, and I really need to keep education,” Chang told CCTV in May.

” Three months sleep is the longest I’ve ever had in my life, and this is a really big blow to me.”

In the men’s events, there should be more competition for the Foreign divers.
