Chinese victims among 4 killed in Laos explosion

BANGKOK: An explosion at a store in northwestern Laos killed four persons including Taiwanese immigrants, Beijing’s consul general in the country reported.

The “blast” happened on Friday ( Feb 14 ) at a Chinese store in Oudomxay province, the Chinese consulate in Luang Prabang said in a statement.

The reason was under investigation, the embassy and local media reported.

Three persons were likewise injured in the “fire affair and blast” at the store in Nasao town, according to Laos National Radio.

It however caused” major injury” to surrounding buildings, China’s state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

The embassy said that China’s adviser to Laos, Fang Hong, was deploying “all-out work” to help address the injured and support patients ‘ people in the aftermath.
