Beijing’s foreign minister announced on Thursday ( 12 September ) that Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the BRICS summit in Russia next month.
The Kremlin hopes that the summit of emerging markets will give way to a chance to increase its impact and forge closer financial relationships, mainly with Beijing, between October 22 and October 24 in the southwest of Kazan.
” President Xi is quite happy to accept your offer, and arrive in Kazan as scheduled”, Wang Yi told Russian President Vladimir Putin at a gathering in Saint Petersburg.
” The two heads of state may have further proper conversations”, Wang said.
He also proclaimed the” sturdy mutual respect and deep connection” between Putin and Xi.
The BRICS class, an abbreviation for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, represents about half the world’s people and has since expanded to include other big emerging markets including the United Arab Emirates and Iran.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, Putin has turned to China for assistance. Since then, the supporters have increased business to report peaks as Moscow is facing heavy financial sanctions from the West.
Next month, Putin said Russia’s economic and trade links with China were “yielding effects” as he welcomed Chinese Premier Li Qiang to the Kremlin.
