China’s Wang Yi blasts US ‘suppression’, defends Russia ties

Sea Record

Wang argued on Thursday that Beijing’s activities in the South China Sea were acceptable, claiming that Beijing had “always maintained a large degree of restriction.”

Manila has accused China of harassing Spanish vessels in the disputed lakes, including firing a water gun at a recharge vessel on Tuesday.

Ferdinand Marcos, the president of the Philippines, expressed “great alarm” over the Chinese steps, while a defense leader from the country described the encounters as” the worst” in two decades.

Wang told reporters that while Beijing “advocates the spirit of vital good-neighborhood,”” we will not permit goodwill to become abused.”

He declared,” We will legitimately defend our rights in accordance with the law,” and urged “certain locations outside the area not to cause problems or get sides, and to avoid acting as disruptors or malcontents in the South China Sea.”

China will continue to be a force for peace, stability, and progress in the world in the face of difficult conflict, Wang told reporters.

” NEW PARADIGM”

When asked about the continuing conflict in Gaza, Wang reiterated China’s aid for Palestinians, stating that Beijing supports full UN account for a Palestinian state.

The Arab provinces have been occupied for a long time, according to Wang, who once again made the world aware of the crisis in Gaza.

He continued,” The long-cherished desire of the Israeli people to establish an independent nation cannot be evaded, and the historic injustice suffered by the Israeli people may continue for years without being corrected.”

He described the issue as” a tragedy for humanity and a humiliation for civilization.”

Since the start of the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in October of last year, Beijing has been calling for an immediate peace.

Wang on Thursday defended Beijing’s near ties with Moscow, saying that” China and Russia have established a new model for significant energy relationships that is totally different from the old Cold War era.”

According to the foreign minister, bilateral relations depended on” the basis of non-alignment, non-confrontation, and non-targeting of second parties.”

Beijing has been criticized by European power for rejecting Moscow’s condemnation of its February 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

China claims to be balanced in the conflict in Ukraine, but its strategic relationship with Russia has gotten closer since the start of the conflict.

In response to work by the bloc to fend off competition from China in fields including engineering, power, and electric vehicles, Wang also told reporters on Thursday that the European Union’s representation of China as a competitor was” no factual or feasible.”
