China’s BYD to give dealers 2 billion yuan for hitting sales target: Sources

SHANGHAI: According to two dealers with knowledge of the situation, BYD, which surpassed Tesla in global energy car sales for the first time in the third quarter, will give its Chinese dealers rewards totaling billions of renminbi.

If the sellers meet their revenue goals in 2023, the Chinese manufacturer will pay them 666 yuan ( US$ 93.17 per vehicle ), according to the people. Since the variety 666 looks like the term for” great” or “amazing,” it is regarded as an auspicious number in China.

As it sold more than 3 million models of pure electric cars and plug-in hybrids in the year, they added, BYD is estimated to have paid up to 2 billion yuan in full.

The seller bonus for BYD was first reported by Chinese media outlet Yicai on Tuesday. Reuters asked for comment, but BYD did n’t respond.

In order to increase sales, BYD has been quickly growing its revenue system in China through dealerships, particularly in lower-tier Chinese cities.

According to China Merchants Bank International, it had more than 3,400 stores in China selling its Dynasty and Ocean line of automobiles as of October, making it the most popular brand overall.

In the first three quarters of 2023, BYD reported a net profit of 21 billion rmb, with income of more than 2 million cars and parts like batteries and smartphone technology.

In 2023, BYD sold 3 million cars worldwide, or 62 % more than in 2022, of which 1.57 million were pure electric vehicles ( EV ). Tesla reported delivering 1.81 million Vehicles during the same time period, an increase of 38 % from the previous year.
