As the group of developing nations looks at expanding to compete with a Western-dominated world order, Chinese president Xi Jinping said he supports Kazakhstan joining the BRICS bloc on Wednesday ( Jul 3 ).
Following a press conference in the money of the Central Asian state, Xi urged Kazakhstan to “play the part of a thick power on the global stage and contribute to global governance” while praising Astana’s accession.
China and Russia are pushing for the development of the BRICS gathering, which also includes Brazil, India and South Africa, as they seek to counter American economic hegemony.
The group was founded as an informal four-nation team in 2009 as an acronym created by Goldman Sachs ‘ general analyst Jim O’Neill in 2001, before adding South Africa a year later.
Next August, the BRICS union agreed to say Saudi Arabia, Iran, Ethiopia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates. But, Saudi Arabia has not yet joined the group.
Argentina intended to visit the BRICS, but Javier Milei, president of his nation, withdrew soon after taking office in December.
Xi is in Kazakhstan to enter a Shanghai Cooperation Organization heads of state gathering from July 3 through July 4.
During his conference with Tokayev, China and Kazakhstan even agreed to increase their two- method industry as soon as possible, the statement added.  ,
