China mulls potential sale of TikTok US to Musk: Report

According to people with knowledge of the situation, Chinese officials are considering a potential option that would involve selling TikTok’s US operations to billionaire Elon Musk if the business fails to fend off a potential ban, according to Bloomberg News on Monday ( Jan 14 ).

According to the report, Chinese leaders favor keeping TikTok under the command of family Bytedance, noting that the business is bringing an appeal to the US Supreme Court.

According to the report, Musk’s social media platform X may take over TikTok US and operate the company up. The report further explained that the Chinese officials have not yet reached a definitive decision regarding how to proceed and are still in preliminary discussions.

Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment, while TikTok declined to comment. X was unable to be reached for comment right away.

The Cyberspace Administration of China and China’s Ministry of Commerce, state agencies that could be involved in judgments about TikTok’s coming, could not be immediately reached for comment.

The judges ‘ focus on the national safety concerns about China that led to the assault, with the Supreme Court last week showing an interest in upholding a legislation that would force the sale or restrictions of the well-known short-video app TikTok in the US by January 19.
